Last week we talked about the Cranberry Festival. Saturday was a gift. The day was dry and warm. Sunday, on the other hand suited ducks and worms better. The festival is a marker that cottage season has changed. Today the sky is clear, the colours (what is left of the forest crown) are bright.
Walk through the woods and the scurrying going on is amazing! Chipmunks are industriously storing nuts, acorns and maple keys. They usually tuck away enough for 3 winters (just in case). They talk a lot too. Sit and watch and these little guys are defensive of their territories in a way you might not imagine. They fairly yell at an interloper. Fun to watch, but not for them. Territorial prerogative is key!
Our Muskoka territory is getting well prepared for winter too. One of Muskoka’s leading plumbers calls the season ‘water off’. Boats, too, are being put away. Somehow buyers haven’t thought of a winter respite yet. We’re busy! Not much has come to market, nor will it for a while. Our Marketwatch Newsletters will be less frequent for the next few months.
