Spring is officially here. We know by the date, by the Cottage Life Show having come and gone, The Muskoka Spring Art Show was held last weekend and Muskoka Highlands says 3 nights of 8C weather and the course is open.

We also know it’s spring because the roads are heaving as frost departs, some private lane ways are soft up to the axles and ice on the lakes is starting to darken. Ice out is at least a couple of weeks away but shorelines are becoming visible, much of our snow has left and the roadways are clear.

It’s only as we get into valleys and shaded areas that much snow cover remains. Think mud. If you’re coming to ‘kick the dirt’, be prepared to wear some of it. We don’t have a lot of overburden in Muskoka, the sparse top soil drys out pretty quickly, but there are spots where slipping sliding and sinking can’t be avoided.

It’s ‘welly’ time!

A good number of properties have come to market in the last bit. There’s a lot to see and, it’s moving. Our spring market has started.
