For many of us who live in Muskoka, the sound of train whistles across the water is the sound of home. Both major rail lines pass through Muskoka on their way to and from the west coast. In some places, they pass very close to one another. Both Lake Joseph and Lake Muskoka have railway views. The owner of this boathouse took advantage of the railway trestle across the bay. He built his boathouse to look like a Victorian railway station and called the property Charing Cross after one of the great rail stations of the 1800’s.
