Summer steamed in and made itself comfortable, breaking a few records as it did so. Along the way, it effectively diminished the mosquito population. Unexpectedly, summer’s first weekend may be without the ‘Muskoka wave’, a by product of swatting the pesky critters away.

Once again, people are congregating, enjoying sights and sounds towns and lakes have to offer. Gravenhurst and Bracebridge were centres of Detroit iron as both communities had car shows. Port Carling was a little more staid as a steamer went through the locks enroute to Lake Rosseau for a dinner cruise.

Throughout the summer, festivals (both new and those returning) are being staged throughout the region. Whether it’s a farmer’s market, Art Show, Craft exhibit or Antique Boat Show, there will be something happening of interest in just about every community.
