We are easing into summer after a long spring. The lakes are warming and recreational boating is returning. Even short term rentals are OK. Bed and Breakfasts and AirBNBs are now open. Life, though, is the same here in cottage country as it is elsewhere. Distancing prevails and people are vigilant.
Relative to the GTA and Golden Horseshoe, this part of the world has fared well. COVID numbers have stayed low. People are careful and considerate.
That hasn’t stopped the intrepid. Buyers who have been intending to have a cottage in time for summer have been carefully making their decisions. Sales have been happening, some with great intensity. Each of the last 3 weekends has seen cottages sell in competition. Properties of good value, those which are ‘priced right’ are selling strongly. If a property pops up that is interesting. Check with us. It could be a candidate for competition. Being able to come up right away, rather than waiting for the weekend, could pay dividends.
This time last year there had been no island sales. This year? 6! Sure, the number is small but it’s rare to see islands moving this early in the season. They usually sell much later in the year.
This week, along with our usual price ranges below we are adding islands. They range much like mainland but because land values are lower than mainland (in some cases by as much as 60%) the cost of entry is lower. Reliance on boating is essential though.
