Trillium are blooming. In places the forest floor is a carpet of deep red and brilliant white. This week will be the highlight of Ontario’s flower in these parts. It’s likely, too, as it usually is, that black flies will have their heyday as well. For about 10 days the beauty of the forest is tempered by tiny pests. They’re not biting… yet. But as leaves pop, appetites change and back flies rule. Thankfully, their season is very short.

Talking about short, the spring cottage season is short too. We’re about half way through it. This year has been marked by lower levels of inventory on the one hand and quick sales on the other. More than a few times have we been questioned about a property on the market for a couple of days, only to find it’s already under contract.
