The first full week of July. Almost normal. Renters are in place, lakes are busy, shops are open and patios are appropriately distanced. What’s different? Camps are closed and remain quiet. This year, more than ever, people are happy to be out enjoying fresh air, chatting with neighbours and savouring the sights and smells of fresh. There are ‘pick your own’ farms too. In that regard you don’t have to wait for market day to celebrate the good things that grow. It’s berry time! Peas are starting and beans will be here in a few days.
Talking about the next few days, the weather forecast looks damp. If picking fruits and veggies is not your choice, then picking a board game for the Muskoka room, dusting off the cribbage board or curling up with a good book is just as good. If the day’s warm, why not wash your hair under the downspout? Rainwater is soft and feels really decadent.
