Wow! And just like that, the seasons have changed. Lakes are cooling, leaves are turning and the golden days are upon us. Farmers’ markets are full of late summer produce. We have yet to sample a crisp fall apple. But it won’t be long!
September brings an interesting mix of properties to market. People leaving the lake for the last time sometimes list cottages that have been in the family for generations. This is the time of year ‘old originals’ bloom. It’s also the time of year when sellers decide they don’t want to carry a cottage over the next winter. Closing dates can be important in a negotiation. As well, we find properties that have been renovated and groomed over the summer months, looking their best.
Early fall for cottages is a lot like the farmers’ markets. There’s usually more to choose from than in summer and many of the choices are lush and ripe, full of interest. Tasty.
