Someone flicked the switch. September 22 summer ended with a thump. True, Muskoka still hasn’t had it’s first frost (we’ve been close ), but nights are definitely cooler and the lakes are quickly losing their heat. There’s been at least one misty morning where the air is significantly cooler than the lakes.
In Haliburton, particularly the highlands, seasonal change is obvious. Trees are beginning to change quickly. The other day, driving to the eastern side it was clear the fall is here. In fact, this Saturday in the Town of Haliburton the new season is being celebrated with Colourfest with all kinds of activities for kids of all ages. Weather should cooperate. If fall is your favourite time of year, Colourfest is a good place to kick it off.
The second half of the Studio Tour in Muskoka is underway and cranberry harvest in Bala has begun. It will be a great weekend to be outdoors. If you’ve never seen cranberry harvest, the colour is quite dramatic and worth the trip. Cranberry Cider (non-alcoholic) is a real treat too!
September has been great. October holds promise.
In the cottage market there have been a few new listings. One in particular brought back memories. In the early 60’s I attended a canoe-tripping camp.
