Labour Day. A milepost. Back to school. This year, although the norm, is different from what we have become accustomed to over the last couple of years. School buses are out in force and students are on the streets. It’s amazing to think that for some students who entered high school during the height of COVID, this week marks their first time in class or the school cafeteria. Things which many of us took for granted in our day, seem strange to them.

Here, in cottage country, leaves are beginning to turn, some people have already closed their cottages while others look to September as their favourite month. Last time we talked about the mists of fall. Now, there’s no question the lakes are warmer than the dawn air. Bright sunshine filtered, rests soft upon the shore, waves barely lapping as the morning slowly stirs and comes to life.
